Disney has revealed the Marvel and Star Wars television series that will premiere in 2024; fans of Andor expecting a second season will be let down.
Disney, the entertainment conglomerate, announced in a press statement that two Star Wars and three Marvel films will debut on the streaming juggernaut next year. Regretfully, Andor season 2 is not one of the three that will debut in the upcoming year when it comes to the former.
In fact, Disney announced that the only shows produced by Lucasfilm that will air in 2024 are Star Wars: Skeleton Crew, which is a series that draws influence from the popular ’80s film The Goonies, and Star Wars: The Acolyte, the first live-action production set during the iconic sci-fi franchise’s High Republic era. Therefore, fans of Star Wars shouldn’t anticipate that the second and last part of Andor would follow suit.
It’s also a great shame. We referred to Star Wars: Andor as a “blood-pumping spy thriller that might be the best Star Wars show yet” in our review. Andor season 1 saw a slow start (in terms of viewership) when it debuted in August 2022. Still, it ultimately became popular for Disney Plus, with both new and returning fans praising it as one of the best Disney Plus productions ever.
With its immense success and positive reviews, fans have been eagerly awaiting the release of Andor’s second season. Some fans were hoping that the next episode of the show, which has been in development for some time, might premiere in 2024. However, the Diego Luna-starring series’ production has been delayed due to the 2023 writers’ and actors’ strikes, so we’ll probably have to wait until 2025 for its comeback.
Marvel, Disney Plus, and imitators are coming.
As previously stated, three new TV shows will join the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) in 2019. As previously announced, Marvel’s Echo will launch on the platform on January 10, 2024, along with sibling streamer Hulu. This will allow fans of the largest superhero series in the world to stream new content after New Year’s Day.

However, we now know which series will be added in 2024. Agatha: Darkhold Diaries, the WandaVision spin-off starring Kathryn Hahn that was once known as Agatha: Coven of Chaos, is also scheduled for release at some point in the upcoming year; one Agatha star has indicated that it will debut in late 2024. Another Marvel Phase 5 TV series that is a direct sequel to the well-liked 90s series X-Men: The Animated Series, X-Men 97, will join the two.
With the exception of Echo, none of these series have official release dates yet, and it will be some time before we learn when they will make their debut on one of the top streaming platforms in the globe.
That’s also not entirely unexpected, given Disney has faced a number of challenges in the last 12 months, including multiple changes to the release schedule in the midst of the Hollywood strikes. Deadpool 3 is the only MCU film that will hit theatres in 2024, as the aforementioned demonstrates. However, Disney has other non-Marvel pictures that will be released in theatres next year, such as Alien: Romulus and Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes.
There will be new episodes of some excellent Disney Plus and Hulu series, as well as much-awaited new TV shows to enjoy. Among the former are The Bear seasons 3 and 2, as well as Extraordinary seasons 2; among the latter are Shogun, Renegade Nell, and The Artful Dodger (UK and Ireland).
Conclusion
Disney’s 2024 lineup features new Marvel and Star Wars shows, excluding Andor season 2. Star Wars offers The Acolyte and Skeleton Crew, while Marvel introduces Echo, Agatha: Darkhold Diaries, and X-Men 97. Andor’s delay to 2025 disappoints fans due to the 2023 strikes. Challenges faced by Disney, like Hollywood strikes, impacted official launch dates. Beyond Marvel, Disney plans to release Deadpool 3 in theaters in 2024, alongside non-Marvel films. TV highlights include The Bear season 3, Extraordinary season 2, and new series like Shogun, Renegade Nell, and The Artful Dodger. Despite setbacks, Disney promises diverse and engaging content across its streaming platforms.
